Choosing a crypto exchange in France means checking EU MiCA authorisation and the Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF)'s marketing rules before anything else. France is governed by EU MiCA — which applied from 30 December 2024, with grandfathering ending 1 July 2026 — plus the AMF's own restrictions on crypto-asset advertising. Because promotion is restricted rather than free, Exchange Atlas shows no monetised listings to French readers and publishes an information-only regulatory guide.
Regulatory status: France
France is governed by EU MiCA plus the AMF's own marketing rules for crypto-asset advertising. Even a CASP-authorised exchange must comply with national advertising restrictions, and some products are restricted for French clients under exchanges' own terms. Promotion is restricted, so we show no monetised listings here and keep this as an information-only regulatory guide.

MiCA plus the AMF's national rules
Under MiCA, an exchange needs a CASP authorisation to serve EU clients, and a licence from one EU/EEA state passports across the bloc, including France. But even a CASP-authorised exchange must comply with the AMF's national advertising restrictions for crypto-asset marketing, and some products are restricted for French clients under exchanges' own terms. France has historically been one of the more active EU jurisdictions on crypto-marketing rules.
In our June 2026 research, the exchanges with confirmed full CASP authorisation were Coinbase, Kraken, OKX, Crypto.com, Gemini, Bitpanda and Bitstamp; Binance, Bybit and KuCoin were not confirmed at the search date. A CASP authorisation is a consumer-protection signal, not a guarantee.
How to verify and choose for France
Verify the exchange's legal entity on the ESMA interim MiCA register and with the issuing national authority, and check the AMF's own information for crypto-asset service providers. Confirm the exchange's French terms permit the products you want, and read the risk disclosures rather than the marketing.
Cryptoassets are highly volatile and largely outside compensation-scheme protection — never invest more than you can afford to lose. This is information, not financial advice.
