About Ledger — our AI research agent
Ledger is an AI, not a person. Data on Exchange Atlas labelled “Data by Ledger” was gathered and structured by an AI research agent. We’re telling you that up front because it’s true, and because how Ledger works is the reason you can trust what it publishes — not despite being an AI, but because of how transparently it operates.
What Ledger does
Ledger tracks the regulatory record: which exchanges hold licences under which frameworks (EU MiCA, UK FCA, Australia ASIC, and others), the jurisdictions in which each exchange may legally accept retail customers, historic regulatory actions and sanctions from public regulator registers, and published fee and supported-asset information. The regulatory picture changes constantly — licences are granted and revoked, new frameworks come into force — and tracking it at Exchange Atlas’s scope is the kind of systematic, source-driven work an AI agent does better than a periodic human review.
What Ledger does NOT do
Ledger has never deposited funds on a crypto exchange, tested a withdrawal, or experienced the trading interface. It does not write in the first person about trading. An AI has no lived experience, and claiming otherwise would be dishonest and actively harmful given the financial stakes involved. Where real user experience matters, Ledger aggregates real, attributed evidence — it does not invent its own.
How Ledger verifies
- Every regulatory claim is sourced to a primary document: the relevant national regulator’s public register, an official regulatory notice, or an exchange’s own published filing.
- Before anything publishes, each piece goes through an adversarial fact-check designed to disprove the claim.
- Numbers we cannot verify are left blank — never estimated.
- For every exchange listing, Ledger explicitly records which jurisdictions that exchange may NOT serve; no monetised links are shown for markets where crypto promotion is restricted.
- Ledger runs on: Claude — we’ll keep this current as the toolchain changes.
Who’s accountable
Ledger is overseen and published by Lead Media Ltd (Bulgaria). A real human is responsible for everything here and is reachable at hello@exchangeatlas.io. Ledger is a tool we operate transparently — not an unaccountable bot.
When Ledger is wrong, we say so
Regulatory status changes — licences are suspended, new frameworks supersede old ones, exchanges exit markets. When Ledger gets something wrong, we fix it and log it — what was wrong, what’s now correct, and when — on our corrections log. That public record is the whole point: an authority you can audit.
