Crypto staking yields and unbonding periods
Approximate staking reward rates and lock-up/unbonding periods for major proof-of-stake assets. APR figures are Kraken's own published bonded-staking rates on the retrieval date, not a network-wide average — actual yield varies by validator, platform and (for inflationary networks like Cosmos) by how it is measured against issuance. Treat every figure as approximate and time-stamped, not a guarantee.

| Asset | Consensus | Approx. staking APR | Lock-up / unbonding |
|---|---|---|---|
| ETH | Proof of Stake | ~2.17% (Kraken, bonded) | Variable exit queue — no fixed period; depends on validator exit-queue depth |
| SOL | Proof of History + Tower BFT (PoS) | ~5.72% (Kraken, bonded) | ~2–3 days (one epoch) |
| ADA | Ouroboros Proof of Stake | ~2.57% (Kraken, flexible — no separate bonded rate published) | None — delegated funds stay liquid, no unbonding wait |
| DOT | Nominated Proof of Stake | ~5.35% (Kraken, bonded) | ~48 hours (cut from 28 days by a 2026 governance referendum) |
| AVAX | Avalanche consensus (PoS) | ~10.51% (Kraken, bonded) | Fixed term chosen upfront — funds locked for the selected staking period, no separate unbonding wait |
| ATOM | Tendermint Proof of Stake | ~19.23% (Kraken, bonded) | 21 days |
| NEAR | Sharded Proof of Stake (Nightshade) | ~5.04% (Kraken, bonded) | ~2–3 days (4 epochs) |
| TRX | Delegated Proof of Stake | ~3.14% (Kraken, bonded) | 14 days |
Methodology
APR figures are Kraken's own published bonded-staking rates, snapshotted on the retrieval date — they are one exchange's rate, not a protocol-wide average, and Kraken itself only stakes a portion of flexibly-staked assets.
Cosmos (ATOM)'s headline rate is notably higher than most others because Cosmos Hub runs high nominal token issuance (~10–14% annual inflation); the nominal reward rate shown is not the same as inflation-adjusted real yield, which independent analyses put substantially lower.
Lock-up/unbonding periods are protocol-level facts (not exchange-specific) confirmed against each network's own documentation or a parameter reference, listed as additional sources above.
