MiCA CASP authorisation status of major exchanges

Whether major centralised crypto exchanges hold a Crypto-Asset Service Provider (CASP) authorisation under the EU's Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA) — mandatory for any exchange serving EU clients since the transitional period ended 1 July 2026. A licence from one EU/EEA member state passports across all 27 + EEA. Status is not authoritative; verify any individual exchange against the official ESMA register before relying on it.

Methodology

ESMA publishes the official MiCA register as raw CSV files rather than a browsable per-entity lookup, so per-exchange status here was cross-checked against two independent third-party trackers that parse the same ESMA data (Chainscreen and CASP Tracker); both agreed on status and authorisation dates for all ten exchanges checked.

Bitpanda holds separate authorisations in Austria (FMA) and Malta (MFSA) — both are listed rather than picking one.

Binance did not appear on either tracker's authorised list as of the retrieval date and is marked pending, not authorised — this is a materially different status from the other nine exchanges and should not be read as 'likely to pass soon'.

KuCoin (KuCoin EU Exchange GmbH) does hold an FMA CASP authorisation (granted 2025-11-27), but the FMA separately barred it from commencing new business over the period 2026-02-19 to 2026-05-18 citing anti-money-laundering staffing gaps, and per the FMA's own release the commencement of business operations remained prohibited as of the retrieval date — hence 'Authorised — operations restricted', not a clean authorisation.

A CASP authorisation is jurisdiction-specific at the point of grant but passports across the EU/EEA once held; it does not by itself make promotion to EU retail consumers unrestricted — national advertising rules (e.g. France's AMF, Spain's CNMV) still apply.
